First, check where your file actually is
Log into pmsuryaghar.gov.in and open My Applications. The status will be one of: installation pending, consumer confirmation pending, DISCOM inspection pending, commissioned, subsidy redeem pending, bank verification pending, or subsidy released.
Only files marked commissioned are eligible for subsidy. If you have not clicked Redeem Subsidy, nothing has been requested yet — see Reason 5 below before assuming anything is broken.
Name mismatch across documents
Since around July 2026 the national portal requires the account-holder name to match exactly across the electricity bill, Aadhaar, PAN and the bank passbook. Earlier, a bill-only mismatch was tolerated; it no longer is. One demonstrated rejection was on “PRASNT” versus “PRASHANT” — a single letter.
Identify which document is wrong. If it is the electricity bill, apply for a name correction at your DISCOM (most now allow it online). If it is the bank passbook, get the bank to correct the name and re-upload the proof. Then raise a query on the portal so the file is re-verified.
Wrong bank document uploaded
The portal accepts only a passbook first page or a cancelled cheque that shows the name, account number, IFSC and the bank's stamp or signature. These uploads are rejected as “unauthorised”:
- •
Bank statements or mini-statements
- •
Screenshots of a banking app
- •
Blurred or cropped scans where the IFSC is unreadable
Upload the full passbook page or cheque through your consumer login. If the field is locked, raise a query under Subsidy Related Issue and attach the correct document.
Account verification pending
Bank account verification normally clears within 2–3 hours, almost always within 24 hours. If it sits at “verification pending” for 15–20 days with correct data, it needs a ticket — it will not clear on its own.
On the national portal go to Raise a Query → Subsidy Related Issue → Account Verification Pending, quote your application number and attach the bank proof. Support is available by phone helpline, email and WhatsApp; WhatsApp typically responds within about 48 hours and is the fastest route in practice.
Loan customers: Jansamarth details not received
If you financed the system through Jansamarth, the subsidy is now routed to your loan account rather than your savings account — a change effective around August 2026. The Redeem button stays disabled, with a message asking you to verify loan details on Jansamarth, until the bank pushes your loan account details to the portal.
The portal gives the bank 15 days from inspection approval to transmit loan details. If they have not arrived by then, the consumer is offered the option to substitute savings-account details. Do not assume the file is broken during the 15-day window.
Nobody clicked Redeem
Redeeming the subsidy is the consumer's step, done from the consumer login after commissioning. Vendors cannot do it. Many customers assume the vendor “handles the subsidy” and wait for months on a file that has never been redeemed.
Open the application, click Redeem Subsidy and confirm the bank details. Nothing is requested from the government until you do.
Less common causes
- •
Subsidy rejected by PFMS. The Public Financial Management System rejects transfers where the account is dormant, frozen, jointly held with a different primary holder, or where the account type is unsupported. Provide an active single-holder savings account and re-upload proof.
- •
DCR certificate not uploaded against the application. The B2C DCR certificate remains “Unclaimed” on the DCR portal until the vendor attaches it to your file. Ask your vendor to confirm.
- •
Serial number mismatch between the DCR certificate and the panels physically installed. This is a third-party inspection finding under the MNRE SOP and will stall the file until corrected.
- •
“Give up subsidy” ticked by mistake at application. This is not reversible on the same application; it requires a fresh file.
What the timeline should look like
| Event | Expected time |
|---|---|
| Redeem clicked → bank verification | 2–24 hours |
| Bank verification → central subsidy credit | 7–15 days |
| Central credit → state top-up credit | ~15 days |
| Overall guideline | 30 days from bank verification |
If you are outside these windows and have ruled out the five reasons above, escalate in order: the national portal query first; for UP, the Solar Samadhan portal (upnedasolarsamadhan.in) as a parallel route; then a written complaint to your state nodal agency quoting your NP-prefixed application number.
Beware of “subsidy guarantee” claims
No vendor can guarantee your subsidy. The government pays when the file is correct, and only then. A vendor who promises “100% subsidy is our responsibility” is making a sales claim, not a contractual one. What a good vendor can do is pre-check your documents for name mismatches and bank proof before filing — which prevents most of the failures on this page.
